Thank you for choosing Moss Distributing
Freight Policy of Moss Distributing, Inc.
Moss Distributing, Inc. arranges transportation through independent, third-party carriers as a service to our customers. While we work with reputable carriers and coordinate delivery logistics, Moss Distributing is not the carrier and does not assume carrier liability.
Freight Quotes & Rates
All freight quotes are time-sensitive and include an expiration date. Rates are guaranteed only through the stated expiration date and may change due to market conditions, fuel costs, capacity constraints, or seasonal demand.
If a quote expires prior to product availability, a revised quote will be required. The updated rate may be higher or lower based on current carrier pricing at the time of shipment.
Moss Distributing does not estimate freight costs and does not control carrier pricing. Freight charges are determined by the carrier at the time of shipment.
Accessorial Charges
Carrier-imposed accessorial charges may apply, including but not limited to liftgate service, limited access delivery, appointment requirements, detention, re-delivery, or special handling.
All accessorial charges are assessed by the carrier and are the responsibility of the customer, even if billed after delivery.
Customers are encouraged to confirm delivery requirements prior to shipment.
Damaged Equipment Policy
Damage that occurs during transit is the responsibility of the carrier. Customer inspection at delivery is critical to proper claim handling.
Inspection & Delivery Requirements
Upon delivery, the customer must:
- Verify shipment count against the Proof of Delivery (POD) and packing list
- Inspect all packaging and equipment for visible damage
- Accurately notate the POD as follows:
- Sign for shipments received complete and without damage
- Note any shortages and have the driver acknowledge them
- Note any visible damage to packaging or equipment on the POD
- Refuse the shipment if damage appears significant or structural
IMPORTANT:
Once a shipment is signed for as clear with no exceptions noted on the POD, the shipment is deemed accepted, and Moss Distributing is not responsible for damage discovered after delivery.
Refusal of visibly damaged freight at delivery is often the fastest and most effective resolution.
Finality of Delivery
Moss Distributing does not accept claims for damage reported after delivery when the Proof of Delivery has been signed without exception.
By accepting delivery, the customer acknowledges responsibility for inspection and acceptance of the shipment in its delivered condition.
